Here is a picture of what will be needed along with a list of the tools and parts below it
new power plug
3/4 inch laptop cooling fan
sharp x-axcto knife
shrink tube
soldering iron
note: as always when working with sharp tools take care when cutting the plastic so you don't slip and cut yourself
Now as before push back the tabs holding the case together and remove the top cover
After removing the top cover, using the knife slip it under the decal and carefully remove it and apply it to the back of the case
Now place the small fan on top in the position shown and score a line around the outside of the fan. This will show you where you need to cut the hole for the fan to blow though
Now these cases are thin so drilling a starter hole is not needed. Just take the x-acto knife and twist a start hole into the case then carve out the hole slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the fan. Use the score lines you created by tracing the outline of the fan in the previous step.
Now take the new power plug and score the wire covering 3/8 of an inch up from the plug and pull the plastic back to expose the wire underneath as this is where the fan leads will be attached
Then bare the fan leads and twist them onto the exposed wire matching the
color red to red and black to black. Be sure your shrink tube is on the
wire before you twist the fan leads on and solder the joints and shrink them
closed,
the hard part is over. Now you will cut a 1/4 slot at the front of the
case to the right of the fan as in the picture as a vent. Then apply a thin
coat
of CA around the fan hole inside the scribe line from earlier and set
the fan onto the glue. Presto just close the case and your done.
This modification will provide plenty of cooling for the fets inside as these laptop fans are designed to cool a laptop processor and being a 5 volt fan will run at 7.2 volts. It spins even faster moving all kinds of air through and over the fets inside .
