Bismarck
Description
An incredible ship boasting a length of over five feet! This is not a kit - This ship is ready to run on the open water! No building required. Charge the batteries and go! Models built from scratch such as these sell in the thousands of dollars range. But through an arrangement with the factory, we are able to bring this exceptional ship to you at an affordable price. The radio controlled battleship Bismarck is offered as a Ready To Run (RTR) scale model of the historical WWII warship. On both the stand and in the water, this ship
is an incredible and awesome visual experience. From it's exquisite wooden decks to it's durable fiberglass hull, this ship stands out as a masterpiece of RTR modeling. In the water, the ship's scale wake and stable maneuverability while turning are exceptional. Furthermore, the Bismarck's three electric motors and electronic speed controller (ESC) provide the ability to vary or maintain speeds with smooth and precise accuracy. Unlike smaller RC ships, waves are no match for the mighty Battleship Bismarck.
Historically, the Bismarck was one of the largest and most powerful warships ever made. With a displacement of well over 41,000 tons (50,000 tons fully loaded) she was a great deal larger than either British or American ships. The Bismarck was powered by steam turbine engines and produced 150,000 hp at 30 knots. She had a short nine month history until her sinking by the British Navy in what was one of the most dramatic episodes of WW II. During a dramatic duel in the North Sea with the British battlecruiser Hood and the British battleship Prince of Wales, the HMS Hood was sunk. During the battle, the Bismarck attempted to escape the British effort to sink her. After an extensive search, the ship was sighted by the RAF and sunk by the British battleships HMS King George V and the HMS Rodney. Rescue of the Bismarck's crew began immediately after her sinking, but was broken off due to fear of attack by German U-boats. Out of a crew of nearly 2,300 only 110 survived.
